Two dead, several injured after an explosive was thrown during a fight in Mhow


Indore (Madhya Pradesh): At least two people have been killed and more than a dozen injured after an explosive was thrown during a fight between two groups in Mhow district, Madhya Pradesh, police said on Monday.

The incident happened late on Sunday as people from two groups in Berchha village were preparing for Independence Day celebrations. According to reports, the reshuffling started after some people drank alcohol and made comments about the other group.

Police said the two groups knew each other very well and often argued over ownership issues.

Sources told IANS that police arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the fight and the situation had normalized.

However, after the police left the scene, people on both sides fought again. During this time, someone threw an explosive, which killed two people and injured several others.

Sources said the explosives likely came from the Berchha Army Training Center which is close to the location.

Mhow Superintendent of Police (SP) Shashikant Kankane said: “The injured have been rushed to different hospitals for treatment. Heavy police forces have been deployed in the village. We are investigating the incident. ‘affair.”
