Rail operator launches online portal for Lancashire businesses

TransPennine Express has introduced a new tool to give small and medium-sized businesses a better way to make rail reservations.

TransPennine Express Business, an online portal launched this week by the rail operator, enables businesses to book rail travel around the clock, providing the lowest fares and a bespoke set of reports to monitor overall spend .

Darren Higgins, Commercial Director at TPE, said: “We are fully aware of the role we play in connecting businesses across the North, in Scotland and beyond. Our goal has always been to give small and medium-sized businesses something that offered the best deals possible, as well as a portal that helped with better control and visibility of spend.

Through TransPennine Express Business, companies can add authorized users, allowing them to book tickets at company-defined thresholds – with the ability to restrict class of travel, describe the reason for travel and assign bookings at a cost center.

Darren added: “We understand the needs of businesses in our region and have designed TransPennine Express Business to reflect and meet those needs.

“We have also worked hard to make payments as easy as possible and users can pay directly by credit or debit card or, subject to credit checks, can also be charged for their travel bookings.

“We are also committed to sustainability and have developed functionality to allow companies to track and compare emissions from rail journeys to those produced by road vehicles, helping them realize more environmentally friendly benefits and defend rail as a green mode of transport.
