State Fair Food Kits Return

State Fair to Go provides meal kits with Minnesota State Fair favorites.

State Fair Take Away (SFTG), a themed meal kit supplier started by local entrepreneur Josh Zamansky, returns this summer with two new boxes of food from the Minnesota State Fair.

Zamansky launched the business in August 2020 when his corporate catering business, Dining Delivered, experienced a downturn due to the pandemic. He credits the business idea to his sister, who suggested developing a meal kit for favorite foods after the Minnesota state fair was canceled. The response was immediate.

“We sold our initial production order in 24 hours,” Zamansky said. “We continued to increase production, but last year the whole food supply chain was really affected by the Covid shortages, so we sold frequently.”

Last summer, SFTG sold 7,000 kits with minimal marketing efforts. Zamansky is optimistic that the success will be repeated this year, although the show will run almost normally this year.

“It’s a fun and easy way for any State Fair enthusiast, regardless of location, to have the Minnesota State Fair shipped straight to their home, and people are all about it these days. here, “Zamansky said. “We’re also seeing a huge response from companies buying them as gifts for their employees and customers. “

This year, SFTG is offering two meal kits on the theme of the show: Signature box and Blue Ribbon Box.

Similar to last year’s offer, the Perishable Signature Box includes Sweet Martha’s Cookie Dough, Pronto Puppies, Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery Cheese Curds, Rosie’s Fries, State Fair Mini Donuts, and a coupon for 6 Free corn on the cob at Cub Foods. This kit serves eight and requires fridge / freezer space until you’re ready to do it.

“We have partnered with Pronto Pup Company to include a create your own offering,” Zamansky said. “Each box includes 10 hot dogs, 10 skewers and the signature Pronto Pup paste. For comparison, last year’s box included pre-made corndogs.

Non-perishable ‘blue ribbon box’ includes The Jerky Shoppe meat sticks, Fernie’s funnel cake mix (and Fried Oreo), State Fair taffy, naked honey sticks, popcorn Big Pop and a Fairchild and Fairborne mug.

“People love the fair,” Zamansky said. “It’s exciting to start a new business that meets a need and a love, and it’s an honor to partner with these dealers who have been at the fair for decades to perfect recipes and appeal to crowds. “

Each box costs $ 59.95 plus $ 10 shipping ($ 20 for out-of-state orders). Both options are available online at and will be shipped in August.
