Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla recognized this year’s Hoboken Green Businesses at the 10th Annual Hoboken Green Fair

At the 10th Annual Hoboken Green Fair on Saturday October 2, Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla recognized over 30 companies like 2021 Hoboken Green Businesses that advance sustainability and environmental responsibility.

“Now more than ever, as Hoboken faces the increasing frequency and severity of weather events caused in part by climate change, it is important that companies incorporate sustainable and environmental best practices,” said the Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla. “These companies are leading by example and doing their part every day to fight climate change. I thank the owners of these establishments for being conscientious entrepreneurs.

This year’s recipients include: Alfalfa, Avocado Green Mattress, Better Life Pharmacy, Black Rail Coffee, Bone In Food, bwè kafe, Choc O Pain French Bakery and Café, Christina Andersen Floral Design, Hoboken Jengo, Hoboken Power Wash, Hudson Table , Lorraine’s House of Styles, Ma’s Gourmet Market, Makeup Artist Mama, Matter of Earth, Mint Market, My Conscience My Choice, NANU Studio, Nurturing Life Acupuncture & Wellness, Organic Basic Food, PAYARU, Pilsener Haus & Biergarten, Purely Juiced, Pinpoint Wellness, St. Mary’s Advocates Thrift Store, Stevens Institute of Technology, The Cuddly Boutique, The Hive, The Little Grocery, The Salon at Hoboken, Urban Souls and Vintage on First.

The Hoboken Green Team launched the Green Business Recognition Program in 2017 to recognize local businesses that are committed to progressive and responsible environmental values.

To qualify, companies have completed the Green Business Pledge and Application on the Hoboken Green Team website. The Hoboken Green Team then reviewed the applications and determined that 32 companies qualified to be recognized as Hoboken 2021 Green Companies.

Examples of sustainable actions that these companies are taking include offering reusable utensils, using biodegradable or environmentally friendly packaging, reducing food waste, recycling and composting, participating in environmental causes, etc.
